Ammonium heptamolybdate is a chemical compound. It is an inorganic salt that consists of ammonium cations (NH4+) and heptamolybdate anions (Mo7O24^6-). It is usually found as a tetrahydrate form. It is also known as ammonium molybdate, is a chemical compound commonly used in agriculture as a source of molybdenum. Molybdenum is an essential micronutrient for plant growth and development, although it is required in very small quantities.
Ammonium heptamolybdate

In agriculture,Ammonium heptamolybdate can provide plants with the necessary molybdenum for various metabolic processes. Molybdenum is a component of several enzymes involved in nitrogen metabolism, including nitrate reductase and nitrogenase. These enzymes play crucial roles in converting nitrate into ammonium and nitrogen gas into ammonia, respectively.

By supplying molybdenum through ammonium heptamolybdate, plants can efficiently utilize nitrogen, leading to improved nitrogen metabolism and overall growth. Molybdenum also aids in the synthesis of proteins and the activation of enzymes involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids.

Deficiencies of molybdenum can result in stunted growth, yellowing of leaves, and reduced crop yields. Therefore, the addition of ammonium heptamolybdate to soils or foliar sprays helps prevent or correct molybdenum deficiencies in plants, promoting healthy growth and optimal crop production.

Ammonium heptamolybdate can quickly and efficiently provide molybdenum nutrition to crops, and effectively prevent and control various physiological diseases caused by molybdenum deficiency in crops, such as short plants, slow growth, necrotic tissue on the leaf margins, and leaf chlorosis caused by molybdenum deficiency. For example, wheat has slow grain filling, citrus yellow spot disease, and peanuts have poor root nodule development due to molybdenum deficiency.

Application:

The recommended amount of molybdenum fertilizer is generally very small, only 750g~1500g per hectare.

1.Seed soaking: Soak seeds in 1000-2000 times of ammonium molybdate solution for 6-20 hours, dry and sow after soaking

2.Foliar spraying: Generally, 300-400 times of ammonium molybdate solution is used for spraying. It is better to spray 2-3 times in the seedling stage or before flowering, with an interval of 7-10 days each time.

Leguminous plants are crops that require more molybdenum. The flowering and pod-setting period is the critical period for molybdenum, and spraying is required before this period.

Precautions:

1. The degree of molybdenum deficiency in different places varies. The dosage should be increased or decreased according to the molybdenum content of the local soil.

2.Spraying should be avoided in the hot sun or dew. If it rains three hours after spraying, there is no need to spray again.

3.Avoid contact with strong acids and strong alkalis when using.

This dosage is for reference only. The specific dosage needs to be determined based on local conditions and the guidance of an agronomist.
